Patrick Reilly, Ph.D., is a Professor of Clinical Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry, University of California, San Francisco, and a staff psychologist at the Santa Rosa Veterans Affairs Clinic and the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center. His research has focused on anger management, violence prevention, and substance use disorders. He completed a research study with the San Francisco Treatment Research Center titled, "Anger Management for Drug Treatment Patients." The purpose of the study was to develop and standardize a cognitive-behavioral anger management group intervention for cocaine abusers. The treatment manual for this study was published by SAMHSA/DHHS and has been widely distributed.
Dr. Reilly is currently a co-investigator on a VA funded study addressing telemedicine and anger management with veterans with PTSD, and a co-investigator on a newly funded VA study addressing violence-prone substance use disorder patients.
Dr. Reilly also completed a VA Merit Review study examining group treatment of anger management for cocaine patients in a clinical trial and has been a co-investigator on cocaine treatment studies and 180-day methadone detoxification protocols at the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
