Dr. Carmody’s research interests include smoking cessation, pain management, behavioral factors in coronary disease prevention, and obesity/weight control. His research has been funded through the VA Health Services Research and Development Program and University of California Tobacco-Related Disease Research Program (TRDRP) for conducting clinical trials in smoking cessation. He is currently a TRC component PI for a clinical trial investigating an intensive smoking cessation intervention for alcohol-dependent smokers in early recovery.
